Brunei

Cities Info

Brunei Darussalam is a small coastal state in the northwest corner of Borneo. The Kingdom is divided into four districts: Brunei / Muara, Tutong, Belait and Temburong.

Bandar Seri Bengawan, the capital, is located in the Brunei / Muara district and is the centre of government and business activities. Western Brunei is composed of hilly lowlands while the eastern part consists of a coastal plain rising to a height of 1841 meters at Bukit Pagon.
The landscape is mainly equatorial jungle, cut by rivers, and most human activity is restricted to the coastal areas and estuaries. As only 15 percent of the country is cultivated, Brunei imports 80 percent of its food requirements.

Pulau Ranggu is home to proboscis monkeys and macaques, while the Peradayan Forest Reserve has squirrels, tree shrews, moonrat, mouse deer and hornbills.
At Ulu Temburong National Park visitors can savour the beauty of the rainforest and indulge in bird watching.
There is also the historic Headhunters' Trail, from Limbang to Mulu, available for trekking through the national park, then jungle, by longboat, with an overnight stay.
