Seychelles

Located in the Indian Ocean of the East coast of Africa and North East of Madagascar, the Seychelles islands are now becoming as one of most popular destination visited by tourists for their pristine beaches. There are 116 islands in the archipelago which are categorized into two groups, inner and outer island. The granitic inner islands embrace Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue which are also main beaches in Seychelles while the outer coral island are situated beyond the Seychelles plateau.

Attractions:
Apart from its pristine beaches, Seychelles houses one of UNESCO World Herritage , Valle de Mai Nature Reserve. Being dominated by coco-de-mer trees, this nature reserve has a unique palm forest. There are also National Parks namely Ile Coco Marine National Park, Silhoutte Marine National Park, The Curieuse Marine National Park, and Anne marine National Park.

Seychelles provide adventure and leisure activities including swimming, diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, boating, cycling and fishing.

How to get there:
Travelers enter Seychelles through Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) near Victoria (Mahe). The flights is accessible from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia (Singapore).

Entry Requirements:
International visitors must provide a valid passport for the whole duration of stay. No visa is needed. A one-month permit is issued on arrival and it can be extended for up to 12 months.

Climate:
Seychelles has a tropical climate with range of temperature is consistently between 23°C and 32 °C (74°F and 89 °F) throughout the year. The weather is warm and humid in general.From May to September, the temperature slightly dips due to the trade winds from the Southeast that brings a relatively dry weather and choppy seas.From December to March, the Northwest Monsoon brings more heavy rain that causes Seychelles is extremely wet.Months of April and October are the months of turnaround period in which the winds start to change direction. During these months, the seas are calm and the temperature is warm.

Time to visit for:

Snorkeling, Sailing, and Diving can be done any time of year but the best time to dive is in April and October as the calm seas give clearer visibility.

May to September are good months for Surfing and Windsurfing as the winds whip up the waves. These period is also good for Hiking and Walking the weather is temperate and pleasant.

Bird Watching – April for breeding season, May to September for nesting of Sooty Terns, October for Migration

Tortoises – October to February for laying eggs

Note:

For any vacation to Seychelles from December to January and July to August, hotel should be booked in advance. It is hard to find accommodation during the peak seasons.
